Anna Pemberton, Specializing in Perinatal focused Anxiety Therapy in Baltimore

It’s taken you years to get your anxiety to a place where it feels manageable.

What used to be full-blown panic attacks and sleepless nights has settled into a constant undercurrent—like a low rumble of thunder on the horizon, always present, always threatening. You know it's there, lurking, and you have to keep the sky clear, watching the clouds for signs of trouble. You fear if you don’t stay vigilant, if you let my guard down for even a moment, it could swallow you whole again.

You’ve become an expert at controlling the things you can.

You research endlessly, plan meticulously, and think ten steps ahead. You’re good at reading the room, anticipating what others need, and staying on top of every task. You’ve got that “eldest daughter syndrome” even if that doesn’t reflect your actual lived experience. It’s how you’ve learned to cope, to keep the chaos at bay.

When it comes to the idea of becoming a parent, excitement feels elusive. You’ve watched things fall apart before, and you can’t help but wonder what will stop it from happening again.

You worry about whether you’ll be able to get pregnant at all, or if you'll be able to handle the overwhelming changes in your body and mind.

What if the transformation is too much? What if the hormones push you over the edge? What if you can’t keep it together this time?

The “what-ifs” pile up, one after the other, each one heavier than the last. You catch myself spiraling through every possible way you could fail.

This is everything you’ve wanted, but it feels like the stakes have never been higher. You can’t afford to mess this up. Being a good mom isn’t just a hope; it’s a need, a requirement, and the pressure is suffocating.

My name is Anna, I am perinatal mental health certified and specialize in anxiety therapy in Baltimore, MD and I can help

I support self-reliant women on the brink of motherhood to step out of survival mode and rediscover their capacity to have a nourishing, balanced and joyful life.

As you embark on the journey of trying to conceive or step into the new season of motherhood, I want you to embrace the support and care you deserve—without the pressure to do it all on your own.

I respect the need to feel better or “okay” as quickly as possible. Therapy should be effective, results oriented and an investment in you. And in the words of Brene Brown: “We cannot give our children what we don’t have.”

I invite you to consider therapy as a nourishing and loving act for you and something that will benefit your current and future family.

I want you to leave each session feeling connected to your emotions and able to function in your everyday life.

As we work together, you’ll strengthen your ability to manage fear, make decisions that align with your core values, and navigate difficult conversations with confidence.

We’ll also identify and replace unhelpful coping mechanisms, introducing more effective strategies with fewer downsides. Along the way, you’ll foster deeper, more meaningful relationships and develop a stronger connection to yourself.

Our work begins with a targeted approach, addressing your most pressing challenges first. I’ll integrate psychoeducation to help you gain a clearer understanding of yourself, alongside somatic practices that support the development of coping skills and reveal valuable insights.

Frequently Asked Questions About Perinatal Anxiety Therapy in Baltimore

  • If you’re struggling, feel alone and find that the ways you’ve been trying to solve problems aren’t working. Most often, I hear from people after something really gets their attention and they think “I can’t keep doing this”. Something is new or gotten worst and they reach out.

  • We start with an intake to get clear understanding of who you are, where you’ve been and what you are seeking to get out of our work together.

I recommend starting with weekly sessions to get progress moving. Within the 2nd or 3rd session I provide education and support you in getting ready to start Brainspotting. This is a primary way I practice, its gentle, client paced and allows us to get where you need to go more quickly. Because we’re working with subcortical brain and you can anticipate more “bang for your buck” than talk therapy alone. That might mean faster healing or understanding more about whats getting in the way of progress and living better right now.

  • Both! Mostly virtual but we can discuss scheduling in person sessions at my office in downtown Catonsville, MD.

  • I am considered an out of network provider. I highly recommend reaching out to your insurance company and understanding if you have OON benefits and your coverage. I can provide a superbill to submit to insurance at the end of each session.

  • 1. Do I have mental health benefits?

    2. If I have mental health benefits, are out-of-network benefits included?
